A message from the board...
It seems hard to believe that Little Orphan Animals is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2008. We are proud to say that over those years we found new, loving homes for approximately 4,000 cats and dogs, plus a few rabbits, guinea pigs and other assorted creatures.
From the beginning we embraced the "no-kill" philosophy. No animal that comes into our care is euthanized. The only exceptions being if the animal is too sick or injured to have hopes of recovery. That philosophy can be expensive at times, however we cannot put a dollar value on the lives of these precious creatures.
Of course, Little Orphan Animals would never have survived these past 15 years without the tireless help of our volunteers! Today we have approximately 40 volunteers working in many different capacities to make a difference in these animals lives. We thank each and every one of them with all our hearts for all they do!
When is comes to thanks, we cannot forget our participating veterinarians - a special thank you to Cortlandt Animal Hospital, Croton Animal Hospital, Peekskill Animal Hospital and Lincolndale Veterinary Center for all their help with our little orphans.
Finally, we must thank you, our supporters, for everything you do for Little Orphan Animals. You attend our fundraisers, shop at our thrift shop, adopt our little orphans and help us meet our financial needs to keep rescuing these animals through your donations.
Today, however, your donation is especially important. The mortgage crisis has affected the most vulnerable of the households subject to foreclosure - the pets. Unfortunately, many people simply cannot take their pets when they lose their homes and are turning to organizations such as LOA to help. Please help us help them.
Thank you.
